Here\u2019s how you can do it:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1: Check out the Income Tax e-Filing Portal<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To access the AIS, you first need to visit the official Income Tax Department\u2019s e-filing portal (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.incometax.gov.in\/iec\/foportal\/\">https:\/\/www.incometax.gov.in\/<\/a>). Make sure that you are registered on the portal, and to register, use your PAN number.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2: Log in to Your Account<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On visiting the site, for online registration, you have to enter the PAN (Permanent Account Number) and password. As the AIS contains your income, taxes paid, and other important financially sensitive details,s it should be accessible only to you or the appointed person.<\/p>\n<p>In this case, the Income Tax Department ensures that no one else will open the document by requesting the correct password.<\/p>\n<h2>Procedures for starting AIS with the Password<\/h2>\n<p>Once you have obtained the password, here are the steps to open the AIS:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>The AIS can be downloaded<\/strong> from the e-filing portal, as has been discussed earlier in this section.<\/li>\n<li><strong> Locate the PDF File<\/strong>: Following the download, you will see that the AIS is saved in PDF format. Double-click to open it.<\/li>\n<li><strong> Enter the Password<\/strong>: You will be asked to type the required password in order to read the file. Here, to unlock the entries, enter the password and that is your PAN in uppercase appended with your year of birth.<\/li>\n<li><strong> View the AIS<\/strong>: Once you type the correct password, you can view your Annual Information Statement, which contains the information about your income,, TDS, and so on.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Common Issues with AIS Password<\/h2>\n<p>Thus, though the procedure of obtaining the AIS is quite unproblematic, there might be some problems concerning the password. But still, remember to follow the correct format on every occasion.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong> File Corruption or Errors<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Sometimes, problems may arise when trying to download as well as when opening the AIS. Make certain you have a strong connection to the Internet while going through the download process.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><strong> Unable to Access AIS<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Sometimes, there might be problems with the Income Tax portal for some reason. This may cause the portal to be unavailable temporarily, as it may be under maintenance, server issues, or updates are being made to the portal. This is usually caused by network problems, so if it happens, do not attempt to recharge again until after several hours.
