Online Procedure for Changing Name on PAN After Marriage

Women can do the same thing by gaining an access to the NSDL or UTIITSL portals. The following is a step-by-step tutorial for both the online and offline processes.

Changing Name on PAN Using TIN NSDL Portal

In case a person wants to change the name on PAN by accessing the TIN NSDL portal, then the following procedure should be followed:
– Go to or access the TIN NSDL web page.
– Select the option ‘PAN’ from the drop-down menu of services available on the home-page of the portal.
– Click on the option namely, ‘Apply’ which is given under the Change or Correction in PAN Data section.
– Now you will have a form appearing on the screen. Fill out the form with all of the essential information pertaining to you and is required for the changing of name as required by the same.
– You must include your PAN details in the form and only tick the cell that is in front of your name.
– After entering all of the information, click on the ‘Validate’ button to check for any problems or errors that might have occurred in the form or details filled.
– Now click on the ‘Submit’ button to finish your payment.
– You can make the payment for such changing of name through debit or credit cards, net or mobile banking, cash card, wallets, or such other methods available for remitting the payment via the website.
– Once you’ve completed the payment, take a print out of the PAN Application Form.
– Attach two current passport-size colour photographs to the form and sign as and where it is indicated through the instructions on the form.
– Attach any required documents to the form and confirm the attaching of all mandatorily required documents.
– Now place the form and the payment slip in an envelope and mail it to the nearest NSDL office for the completion of the verification and name change process.

Changing Name on PAN Using UTIITSL Portal

The following procedure should be followed by a person if they want to change the name on the PAN accessing or using the UTIITSL Portal:
– Go to or access the UTIITSL website.
– Click on option namely, ‘PAN’ under drop-down section of PAN Card services, which is available on the homepage.
– Now click on the option to ‘Change/Correction in PAN Card’, which is available on the screen so as to get yourself redirected to the process of applying for the change of name.
– A form shall appear on the screen which you should fill. So, fill out the form with all of the required information so as to proceed with the change of name on PAN Card.
– You must include your PAN and tick only the cell in front of your name.
– After entering all of the information, click on the button namely, ‘Validate’ to check for any errors or problems that has arisen when you filled the details.
– Now you have to click on the button named, ‘Submit’ to finish your payment and the procedure.
– You can remit the payment using the debit or credit cards, mobile banking, cash card, wallets, or such other methods available for remitting the payment via the website.

Changing Name on Pan after Marriage Using Offline Process

Points to be Noted

  • Fill in all of the details in the mandatory fields of the Form for PAN data modifications or corrections and, if necessary, select the corresponding box on the left margin where revisions are needed.
  • The address for communication will be updated in the ITD (Income Tax Department) database by utilising the address supplied by the applicant in the application Form in order to change or correct PAN data or reissue a new PAN card.
  • The original PAN will be kept and you will be issued a new PAN card with the right database in order to update or repair the mistake in your PAN details.

Things You Should Not Do While Filing the Name Change Requirement in PAN

– Do not overwrite or correct anything in the Form.

General Instructions

– Fill out the form in black ink and bold letters only.
– Write your ten-digit PAN number exactly where it is necessary.
– The photograph must be 3.5cm*2.5cm in size and this should be taken care of.
– The photograph should not be stapled or clipped, but sticked using a glue.
– The signature or left thumb impression must be placed across the attached photo in such a way that the signature or thumb impression is visible on both the photo and the Form.
– Within the area on the left side of the Form, provide your signature or left thumb impression.
– To make adjustments or corrections to a PAN Card, the applicant must fill out all of the essential information in the form, as well as check the appropriate box on the left margin in the appropriate row.
– If necessary, include the right AO code in the application.
– Include a complete postal address with a proper landmark in the application.
