Voting for selecting the party or people representing our country in India through the Government at the Centre and the State or lower levels is a right that is bestowed upon us by the Constitution of India. So, for the non-residents to have easy and simplified access to the exercising of his right, the Electoral Commission of India has launched the NVSP portal and here NVSP stands for National Voter Service Portal.
A person can apply for a voter ID and also check the status of his application or view the same simply by accessing the website. The major point of discussion of this article is as below:

Services Provided by NVSP

There is a range of services that are provided by NVSP which are specifically designed for making it possible for non-residents to participate in the election process of the country with ease and simplicity. Some of the services which are provided by NVSP includes the following:
– Searching of names in the electoral list published
– Entry correction in the electoral roll
– Electoral roll deletion or objection
Applying online for a new registration
– Apply for the transposition of the entry already in the electoral roll
– Printing of voting information slip
– Tracking the status of applications made on NVSP
– Viewing details of the booth for polling, the officer at the booth level, Assembly constituency and Parliamentary Constituency, and also the elected officers.
And such other services listed on portal for ease of access and availing.

Registering on NVSP

For registering oneself on NVSP portal the following steps should be followed by the user:
Step 1: Access the online portal of NVSP at https://www.nvsp.in/.

Step 2: Now on the home page click on the button named, ‘Login/Register’ on the left middle of the website.

Step 3: When you click on this you will be redirected to a new screen where at the bottom, ‘Don’t have an account, Register as a new user.’ Is provided.

Step 4: This will again open a new page where a valid mobile number should be entered along with the captcha code given in the box. When this is correctly entered click on the button, ‘Send OTP’.
Step 5: After completion of the successful verification using the OTP, choose from two options available, ‘I have the EPIC number’ or ‘I don’t have the EPIC number’.
Step 6: Now enter all the details along with the EPIC number if you chose the option, ‘I have the EPIC number’. Then enter an active email ID along with a password. Confirm this password by re-entering the same and also comply with the password pattern given below.
Step 7: And click on the button named, ‘Register’ which will mark the completion of registration.

Log-in to NVSP

A registered user should follow the following steps for logging in to the NVSP account:
Step 1: Access the online portal namely, https://nvsp.in/.

Step 2: Now enter the username which can be the mobile number or email ID of the registered person.

Step 3: Enter the password and also the captcha code is given in the box. Then click on the ‘Login’ button which would give the user access to the NVSP account.

Tracking Application Status on NVSP

If a person wants to check the status of his application with the NVSP, the following steps can be followed:
Step 1: Access the online portal namely, https://nvsp.in/.

Step 2: Log in to your account by entering the username which can be the mobile number or email ID of the registered person. Now also, enter the password, and also the captcha code is given in the box. Then click on the ‘Login’ button which would give the user access to the NVSP account.

Step 3: There you can click on the button named, ‘track application status’.

Step 4: And enter the reference ID in the data field or you can do the same by entering your name also.
Step 5: Then click the track status button which would display the application status.

Downloading Voter ID Card from NVSP

The following steps should be followed for downloading the voter ID card from the NVSP portal:
Step 1: Access the online portal namely, https://nvsp.in/.

Step 2: Log in to your account by entering the username which can be the mobile number or email ID of the registered person. Now also, enter the password, and also the captcha code is given in the box. Then click on the ‘Login’ button which would give the user access to the NVSP account.

Step 3: Then click on the button named, ‘Download EPIC’ and enter your registered mobile number. Click on ‘Send OTP’ and receive the same on mobile number.

Step 4: Enter the OTP in the field given for the same and click on ‘Download EPIC’, which would download the voter ID card
If the voter needs to check his name on the electoral roll, then access the NVSP portal and search on the electoral roll button and search using EPIC or search using detail. Enter the verification code and click on the Search button which would display the name on the electoral roll if it is included.
